Olympics, Olympics, Olympics!
With the Olympics dominating sporting media, I thought it was time for an Olympic only overview.
Before the Women’s road race had started, we were hoping that we could get Pat McQuaid cheering for Chloe Hosking, and Olympics were going to cap Spratt’s cycling comeback. But the race featured neither. It did feature Tears and thunder, as well brilliant and brave race tactics. I sat on the edge of my seat, with my 13 year old son, and as there was no Australian in sight, we both shouted for Vos. As you know, the Dutch rider Marianne Vos wins, and it was Silver for Armitstead, and Great Britain were thrilled. Armistead took the opportunity to tackle sexism within sport, in fact she said sexism was overwhelming. Olga Zabelinskaya, won Bronze for Russia. Shelley Olds, came seventh, after a flat tyre kicked her off the podium, and team-mate Stevens worked hard all day. The Australian girls were heartbroken, and shattered Chloe, is eyeing off Rio.
So the next event on the Olympic schedule is the Road Individual Time Trial, and Shara Gillow will risk it all in Games TT. Linda Villumsen is also a contender, but Comeback queen Armstrong wants medal for baby, surely that not an appropriate teether!
Speaking of teeth, Hougvenaghel is ready to get teeth into gold on the track, and Jess Varnish, says she can beat Pendleton
And then from the 8th August, is BMX, and there are many contenders for gold, including Caroline Buchanen, who lashed out at Liggett, for his “sledge against BMX”.

It is so rare to see the women race on TV – we were glued to the tv as the women’s road raced up Box Hill and around the course. So exciting! Hope it isn’t another 4 years! Would love to see more women’s events on tv! At least we are lucky enough to have the UCI race come to Gatineau every May. Nothing like watching the race live.
I really love watching the race on TV, you get to see (mostly) the whole race, but the atmosphere really doesn’t compare. If only they televised the Giro Donne I would love to watch that too!
